We've planned a Fun-tastic Family Vacation & Reunion to

the Music City, Nashville Tennessee for

July 1, 2011 - July 3, 2011!

Check out the family & page too.

Welcome to the Helsel-Killion 2011 Extended Family Vaca-union.  What's a vaca-union?  Its a family vacation & reunion all rolled into one.  How's it extended, you ask? There's 40+ families when all the siblings & cousins are all together. ("The extended family").   What's more fun then a 3 day, or more if wanted, vacation to a city that so many of us want to visit with your kids,  your grand kids, if that applies, your siblings and all of your cousins that you don't get to see all that often?  Add to that hours of  entertainment, games, family activities, good food, time to chit chat, and over 100 tours & activities for every age and ability around town and well, it's almost heaven on earth.

On this web site, you'll find all  the information you'll need for our action packed, if you want it to be, fun filled vaca-union as well as pic's from the distant past, and not so distant past   The web site will be updated with details about each of the tours around town, the surrounding towns, where to get coupons for the best deals for tours, trivia and current weather so check back often.  Family dinner meetings will be action packed with lots of surprises, entertainment and giggles.  We want to give you a peak into our sense of humor, so we've included some funnies on the website.

You won’t want to miss the three Golden Awards Ceremonies with the flying high Red, White & Blue themed  2011 Helsel-Killion Extended Family vaca-union set in Nashville for July 1, 2011- July 3, 2011.   Nashville's such a fun place with so much to do from Music Row, to the District, historical sites, the German District, two amazing water parks or you can just sit back and relax, sipping a beverage while listening to any type of music you like under the sun, yes, that's right, it's all recorded  in Nashville.

There is something in Nashville for you regardless of your interest and abilities.  There is way more then you can accomplish in a few days.   You'd really need a month to cover it all.  If you've got vacation time saved up and can; take advantage and plan your immediate family vacation around the Family Reunion adding a few days before, after, or both before & after to give your self time to check out every  thing ya'll want to see.

We have planned a schedule for events & activities on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  See the schedule for better details.  Family Events & activities for all ages have been planned for these nights.  The weekend's events start as early as 5 pm and continue through 2-3am.

Reunion planned by Jennifer Lane, Steve & Christine Killion, Brian & Shannon Haviland & our newest member of the reunion committee is Bonnie Dayton!
Our first reunion planned by both sides of the family.

Comments, suggestions, pic's & your family recipes you want to get to the committee or our fabulous web-photo guru, see the Contact Us page for "contact information."  You'll also want to make sure that you vote, As Your Vote Counts, some of your comments or suggestions may already be on the voting page.

We're planning lots of activities, events & games for all ages over the course of the 3 day family vaca-union, including kids through college age. So regardless if you're 1 year old to 90 something there will be something for you in the "family meetings" which are part of our chit chat time & fun filled family dinners where you can earn points for your team towards trophies, awards & metals.  You'll want to check back on the web site over the next few months to continue to be in the loop.  Also the blog will contain info such as the trivia questions and answers.  You'll want this info to add points for your team.  The games & events for all ages run from 5 pm on Friday; 6 pm on Sat. & Sun through 1 -3 am.  If & when you tucker out.  Please head to bed.

What Do You Call a Boomerang That Doesn't Come Back?         A Stick.

Several unexpected greetings, events and activities will be at the vaca-union from the time you walk through the door at the Ramada Inn, until you leave.  Of course not all the fun is listed on the schedule, Kenny Rogers taught us not to put all our cards on the table at the beginning of the game, but its guaranteed to be full of surprises and more fun then a barrel of monkeys no matter what age you are.

You'll kick yourself if you miss out! Be sure to be making plans to join us in Nashville.

We can't wait to see ya'll.

There's a lot of info & funnies on this web site to sit down & read all in one shot.  We don't want you to start sounding like the Bing commercials, so come back & check for updated info often.

Spend the 4th of July with some of us who've decided to stay & celebrate the Country's B-Day in Nashville.

We're sure you're just as excited as we are and we look forward to seeing and experiencing new things with each and every one of you at our extended family vaca-union.

THE YOUNG MINISTER

A young minister was asked by a funeral director to hold a grave-side service for a homeless man, with no family or friends. The funeral was to be held at a cemetery way back in the country, and this  man would be the first to be laid to rest there. Being unfamiliar with the back woods area, became lost. Of course, being a typical man did not stop for directions, and finally arrived an hour late. He saw the backhoe and the crew, who were eating lunch, but the hearse was no where in sight.

He apologized to the workers for his tardiness, and stepped to the side of the open grave, where he saw the vault lid already in place. The young preacher assured the workers he would not hold them up for long, but this was the proper thing to do. The workers gathered around, still eating their lunch. The preacher poured out his heart and soul. As he preached the workers began to say "Amen," "Praise the Lord," and "Glory"! He preached, and preached, like he'd never preached before: From Genesis all the way to Revelations. He closed the lengthy service with a prayer and walked to his car.

He was opening the door and taking off his coat when he overheard one of the workers saying to others, "I ain't never seen anything like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty five years."

Can't wait to see all of ya.

Ya'll come back now, hear!
